GRAND PRIZE WINNER!!

Ok, so one of the things I realized this past week was that I don't really blog anymore. Not that I was ever really good at it, but I think it was because not a whole lot changes in my day to day so I didn't have a lot to say. Don't get me wrong, I have a wonderful husband and a wonderful life, but things stay pretty consistent. But then I realized I really do have a lot to record and since it's not always easy to store pictures in a traditional journal, this is a way to at least put my pictures somewhere (I never really got used to putting them on FB). I've actually been blogging in my head since last August, so maybe one of these days I'll just catch up.

But this past week I got a call that I felt was blog worthy: I AM THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER! About a month ago I entered a contest online (https://www.facebook.com/AttainFertility?hc_location=timeline) and crossed my fingers that I would at least win one of the $10 iTunes gift cards, so when the sponsor called and left a message last Monday, I called back after work thinking that maybe I got lucky, and I did! $250 gift card, 4 days, 5 nights resort, roundtrip airfare to Costa Rica!
Now all I need to do is get my passport :) I had to sign an affidavit and have it notarized and sent back for it to be official, but since I'm pretty sure I didn't cheat on the contest rules, I'm thinking it's a sure thing. Now Tony has to put up with me constantly reminding him that "I'm the grand prize winner" every few hours lol.

Friends and family! My brother in law is in a contest to be selected as 1/20 people, each one from a different country, to participate in this amazing opportunity. He's currently ranked 3rd in USA candidates and with your help he could make it! Check out his video, vote for him, and pass the word on! He's such an amazing guy and totally deserves this chance! Thanks so much for your help! http://www.fjallraven.com/outdoor-life/fjallraven-polar/about-polar/fjallraven-polar-2013/entries/?uid=50568

Long awaited Fence, we finally meet

Hymns of Thanksgiving

Anthony and I are singing in the Hymns of Thanksgiving again this year. They have such a beautiful collection of songs and music this year. We met with the orchestra last Sunday and it was so nice to hear it all together. I feel  so thankful to be a part of it. If you're in the Boise area, please feel free to come to the performance, no ticket needed. If you can't be there in person, it will be broadcast on two local channels all during the week of Thanksgiving. They will have a program by Governor Otter and his wife, and a piano performance by Del Parkinson, to name a few. We've been a part of this for a few years now, and my Dad and some of Tony's aunts for even more years and so we've either been watching the performance or participating in it for long enough that it's become a part of the season for me. It doesn't feel the same without it. So with that all said, I invite everyone to this performance :)

A nose by any other name...

Tony started out the day in pretty good spirits, but surgery takes a lot out of you
He had septoplasty surgery this morning and he's been sleeping most of today. I hope tomorrow goes better. We're hoping this will help him breath the way he should but he keeps asking me why he did this. I keep reminding him it will be worth it but he's having a rough time right now. It was nice having the buzzer throughout surgery because they would send little text messages letting me know how it was going which was nice to have the peace of mind.
While he was in recovery the doctor came out and let me know how it went: he said it took him quite a bit longer than he thought and thinks that there is a history of trauma that made it so bad and feels very positive about the results. I'm not sure if Tony knows that yet because our conversations haven't been very long between his naps. He gets to take the plugs and gauze out of his nose tomorrow. He can't wait, and I can't wait for him. In the meantime I change the dressing for him pretty regularly. They call it a mustache dressing, for obvious reasons :)

One of Tony's wonderful sisters, Debbie brought over some dinner (actually enough for a few nights!) and it was so sweet of her. And as always, very good :) Thanks again Deb! Tony loves the Ice cream Creamies.

Work pics

Tony got a little light-headed again on Thursday during a procedure, but they're getting fewer and farther between, I had to snap a pic while he was trying to get some blood back to his face. About a minute after this he was lying on floor with his feet on the chair :)

I love my job, I love just about everything about it, except for the occassional creepy guy who stares just a little too long, smiles just a little too sinister, and asks for you by name when he doesn't need anything, and who you sometimes wonder if he sabotages his own foot just for an excuse to come back. It's a part of the job, you have to deal with it, that's life.
Have you seen "Megamind" yet? It's one of our new favorites, and for a few weeks after it came out we would tell each other things in "codes". So then at work a few of the assistants started codes after Tony's experience with "Mike-the-guy-who-threw up-on you" and now its just Code:Mike and we all smile and know what to do lol. Since then, a few more codes have popped up. Code Wilson: this guys looking for drugs, Code Candice: this one's a fainter, Code Roger means, "uh, this guy is kinda creepy". It's been nice having Tony around the office because he is always so willing to look out for us and help out. But then last week we had a male patient who started hitting on Tony and now we have a Code David which means Tony would rather that one of the girls takes care of this patient :) we got a few laughs over.He does get a kick out of allthe little old ladies who flirt with him and call him "beautiful boy" :)

My New Favorite App!

So maybe you don't use apps, maybe it's no big deal, but to me it's been great! Product Reps, drug Reps, account numbers, order numbers, phone and fax numbers, I used to carry around all these cards from office to office at work so I would have them with my at any time if one of my bosses needed them. If I didn't have my book I felt lost. But about a week ago I found a great app that solved my problem :) Cam Card takes a picture of the card with my phone camera and automatically saves the info as a contact in my phone. I can flip through the cards as images if I'm looking for a specific card, I can still flip the card over to read the back if I've made any notes to myself or written down account numbers etc. I already feel lighter! And since I always have my phone with me, I don't have to worry about where I've left my black card book. Love it!
